jo bagshaw is a contemporary jewellery designer and maker based in york. jo completed a ba (hons) degree in metalwork and jewellery in 2004 and launched her business in 2006.
the central theme of my work is to create pieces of jewellery that follow simple lines and shapes. i am inspired by everyday objects, vintage items and novelties. i sometimes include these elements directly in my work, encasing and embellishing them with precious metals to give a fresh perspective to a familiar object. i often weave a narrative into my jewellery, incorporating messages or well known sayings to items that convey meaning to the wearer.
libby Jubb began designing and making Jewellery at her home workshop in Ilkley In 2008. she creates jewellery that is inspired by the delicate and ethereal patterns that are formed by nature.
libby jubb’s flower collection aims to capture in silver the transient moments of falling cherry blossom. a flower which is a chinese symbol of feminine beauty and love. each flower is made from one piece of silver wire, which has been hammered to add a reflective texture to the surface of silver.
debbie is a recent graduate of the northern school of design. she graduated in the summer of 2008 with a BA (hons) in illustration. she has continued to keep a daily sketchbook using observational work as a starting point for development of characters' in and around her manchester base.
debbie is currently working on a children's and is an experienced printmaker that utilises her everyday sketches; then develop's them into limited editon prints - on fabric, paper or ceramics.
whilst taking time out from teaching after having her 3 children, karen was able to indulge in her enthusiasm for knitting and textiles. along with a couple of friends in a similar position, they produced an informal co-operative, selling their wares locally. this heightened karen's passion for all things handmade, so when her youngest child started full-time school she wanted to create a shopping experience where it was possible to find unique, beautiful and functional products that ooze the charm and originality you can only get with something handmade. "blueberry park" was born.
me-me lou is created by designer michelle gemmel who graduated it 2003 from york st john university with a ba hons in printed textiles. michelle worked within the fashion and homewares industry for many years and felt that she didn't have the freedom to design or make what she wanted. surface pattern and craft has always been her passion so in 2011 she created me-me lou.
"me-me lou is a great way to express myself. my products are bright, fun and quirky and the prints that i actually design myself truly reflect this. i also love collecting old and unique fabrics so i can give them my own personal twist. i want people to smile when they see my products as I'm always smiling when I'm making them."
