a 50% deposit is required to guarantee your place. this can either be done in person by popping into the bowery, over the phone by debit/credit card or by posting a cheque. cheques are payable to bowery visual arts ltd, 54 otley road, leeds, ls6 2al full payment is required 2 weeks before the course is due to commence.

what’s included?

all equipment provided. fabrics which have been donated to us can be used for the purse or you can bring your own. Approx 50cms w x 20cms l outer and the same for lining is required. As for individual projects you will need to bring your material and zips etc - own material for individual projects are not required on the first session.

the detail

beginners will start by making a lined purse with a zip fastening. this initial project will equip you in the basics of patterns cutting and familiarise you with the operation of using a sewing machine. from here you can either make a simple skirt, tote bag or cushion cover.

for the more experienced, there are a number of projects depending on skills, you can choose from a lined dress to a more complicated blouse. the emphasis is on making garments that fit by learning how to alter and grade patterns. for those wanting to concentrate on interiors or accessories you can design and make blinds, curtains, clutch bags and much more!!
